Single- and dual-channel angle sensors with analog and digital outputs
The Infineon XENSIV™ family of angular position sensors is designed for all types of rotation applications in the automotive, industrial, and consumer sectors. Our portfolio comprises angle sensors with xMR technologies and both analog and digital outputs as cost-efficient single as well as functional safety-supporting dual-channel variants. As one of the industry’s leading suppliers of angular position sensors, Infineon can provide efficient, high-performance solutions for your product design or application.
Note: While the Infineon catalog of angle sensors does not currently include Hall sensor technology, this is in development and will be made available as part of our product range within the near future.
Largest variety of magnetic angle sensor ICs with xMR technologies
Angular position sensors measure sine and cosine angle components with monolithically integrated magneto-resistive elements to detect the orientation of an applied magnetic field. In simple terms, angle sensors are a type of magnetic rotary sensor, which measure the rotational movement of mechanical elements using the data to control and correct the operation of components. Magnetic angular position sensors are used to provide exact rotor position data to optimize motor control, torque, and efficiency in automotive applications, such as steering or braking systems, industrial applications like robotics, and consumer applications like gimbals.
Infineon’s broad portfolio of XENSIV™ sensor solutions includes high-precision magnetic angle sensors with AMR (anisotropic magneto-resistive), GMR (giant magneto-resistive), and TMR (tunnel magneto-resistive) sensor technologies.
TMR magnetic sensors with high sensitivity and extended output voltage
A recent addition to the Infineon XENSIV™ range, the TLE5501 collection offers fast two-channel analog angle sensors with TMR-based technology. Designed to provide the highest functional safety in steering applications, this dedicated automotive angle sensor can also be used as a sensing component for BLDC motor communication in electric motors such as pumps, wipers, and general actuator motors.
TLE5501 products are Infineon’s first angle sensors based on iTMR technology. They offer high sensing sensitivity with an extended output voltage, reducing the need for an internal amplifier. This allows direct connection to microcontrollers in a range of applications where low temperature drift and low current consumption are required.
Pre-configured and pre-calibrated single-/dual-die GMR angle sensors
Infineon angle sensors with iGMR sensor technology are available as easy-to-use single- and dual-die products. Interfaces available include SENT, PWM, SPC, and SPI, making adaptability between a broad range of applications possible. These sensors come pre-configured and pre-calibrated with simple plug-and-play functionality, so they are ready for immediate use.
Highly flexible and ideal for products requiring the highest functional safety requirements, our range of angle sensors with iGMR sensing technology delivers extremely high accuracy with an exceptionally small angle error of less than 1° across the entire temperature profile and lifetime.
Dual combination iGMR and iAMR angular position sensors
The Infineon range of angle sensors with dual combination iGMR and iAMR sensor technology are designed for applications that require built-in redundancy. Featuring giant magnetoresistance (GMR) sensor technology for full 360° angle detection as well as high-precision anisotropic magnetoresistance (AMR) technology, these advanced magnetic angular position sensors are used within both differential and single-ended applications.
For all automotive, industrial, and consumer rotation applications
Automotive angle sensors, most commonly used within steering modules but also in other applications, such as automotive wipers and brakes, are an integral part of modern vehicle design. More specifically, automotive angle sensors are used within steering angle sensing (SAS) to control motor commutation, measure rotor position and pedal position, as well as control rotary switches and incremental or absolute magnetic encoders. Infineon XENSIV™ angular position sensors are optimized for high-speed systems operating under challenging environmental conditions, ensuring the highest reliability and functional safety levels across a host of automotive applications.
Alongside automotive applications, our angle sensors with magnetoresistive technology (TMR, GMR, and AMR) are also used within industrial and consumer applications. This includes position sensing for products, such as gimbals, drones, and robotics, as well as industrial automation and safety applications.

Dual-sensor solutions with two redundant sensors in the place of one
Thanks to the use of innovative stack-mounting technology, the devices of the angle sensor family combine two independent sensors within standard and space-saving TDSO packages which are only about 1 mm thick. It has the same width and length as a conventional single-sensor package. Compared to the common approach of side-by-side sensor placement, the advantages of the top-bottom placement include a more homogeneous magnetic field over the sensing elements and a significantly smaller footprint. This saves precious space and cuts down on expense in safety- critical applications, as a lower-cost ferrite magnet can provide a sufficient magnetic field for the sensors.
