Infineon Technologies Austria – Part of IPCEI Microelectronics

About IPCEI Microelectronics

The Important Project of Common European Interest on Microelectronics (IPCEI) is underpinning Europe’s microelectronics industry and is geared towards advancing microelectronics technology across the EU. The IPCEI Microelectronics was approved by the European Commission in December 2018 and will run until March 2024.

The IPCEI Microelectronics features projects with a dedicated focus on research and development as well as First Industrial Deployment (FID) in the following five fields of technology:

  • energy-efficient chips
  • power semiconductors
  • sensors
  • advanced optical equipment and
  • compound materials

The IPCEI Microelectronics partnership includes 32 companies as well as research & technology organizations from Austria, France, Germany, Italy and the UK. The benefits of the project will be shared beyond the IPCEI consortium, and the knowledge created in the project will be beneficial to organizations across Europe. It will create positive spillover effects across the semiconductor value chain and in other sectors.

This work is funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology  and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Digital and Economic Affairs, and implemented by Austria Wirschaftsservice (aws) and the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) in the frame of the Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) on Microelectronics. The IPCEI on Microelectronics is also funded by Public Authorities from Germany, France, Italy and U.K.
