Infineon "Smart Learning" Initiative: Strong third year of cooperation makes Carinthia's tech talents ready for future

Villach, Klagenfurt, Wolfsberg, Ferlach, July 4, 2022 - Students at the five "Smart Learning" HTL partner schools in Wolfsberg, Villach, Klagenfurt Mössingerstrasse and Lastenstrasse strengthens their digital skills through cooperation with Infineon Austria. Recently HTL Wolfsberg got state-of-the-art VR glasses.

Smart World - Smart Learning

The five-year Infineon "Smart Learning" initiative "rocked" its third year with some highlights. At the five Carinthian "Smart Learning" HTLs in Wolfsberg, Villach, Klagenfurt Mössinger- and Lastenstraße and the HTL Ferlach, digital learning and teaching is on the daily agenda. Here, state-of-the-art technologies are combined with industrial tasks and the students are optimally prepared for the future. With Industry 4.0, robotics, Internet of Things, energy technology, e-mobility or systems engineering, Infineon also has "cool" and, above all, forward-looking topics ready.

Digital competencies are in demand

Here, students can grow along with the latest technology and become real shapers of the future. In this way, we are promoting Carinthia's technical talent and tackling the shortage of skilled workers pragmatically and actively."

New VR glasses for Infineon DIGI-Lab in Wolfsberg

The HTL Wolfsberg has now received further digital "gaming and learning tools" in the form of virtual reality glasses. The state-of-the-art data glasses bring real industrial plants directly to the school via 3D simulation as "digital twins". It perfectly complements the "DIGI-Lab" launched by Infineon last year. Robots, 3D printers, chip kits or blockchain technologies are already in use here.

Know-how with digital tools in Villach, Ferlach and Klagenfurt 

Through the Infineon cooperation, all five HTLs can access the Infineon digital platform with demo kits, e-training, hardware and software applications at any time and depending on the learning progress. The teachers can also continue their education in a smart way: They used the "Infineon Summer and Winter School" to network with experts from science and industry.

In the 21/22 school year, the focus was primarily on technical know-how with digital tools. For example, the HTL schools received around 100 CO2 sensor demokits from Infineon to enable them to monitor air quality in the classrooms. Smartboards, 3D printing tools, load robots with control modules, digital mixing consoles and graphics cards or pneumatics training cases were also provided.

In the future - depending on the pandemic - direct, personal networking activities with students, teachers and parents are also on the agenda. For this purpose, "Infineon Exchange Days", company visits, supervision of diploma theses, skill sharing courses or participation in "hackathons" are planned.
