Well-equipped for a successful school year: Infineon Austria supports children of the Caritas Learning Cafés
Villach, Graz, 2 October 2023 - Expected with tingling, associated with additional expenses: The start of the school year is a financial challenge for many families, especially in times of high inflation. Infineon Austria helps children from Caritas learning cafés so that they can start the new school year well equipped: Around 120 children and young people in Villach and Spittal/Drau, as well as in Graz and Mürzzuschlag, are delighted to receive Infineon snack boxes filled with pens and other utensils needed for everyday school life.
Infineon Austria CFO Oliver Heinrich and Stefan Rohringer, Head of the Infineon Development Centre Graz, personally handed out the snack boxes to the students in Villach and Graz. Oliver Heinrich: "We have been supporting the Caritas Learning Cafés for four years and every year we see the immediate positive effect: convincing learning successes and motivated, inquisitive children are a contribution to more educational justice. Fair access to education opens up life opportunities and is a personal concern of mine, because everyone wins - the young people, society and, in the long term, the economy. I wish all Infineon learning assistants just as much joy as they accompany the children and young people through the school year."
Infineon also supports the Caritas Learning Cafés in Graz and, since the last school year, in Mürzzuschlag with funds from the Infineon Education Fund and volunteer learning assistants. Stefan Rohringer: "The initial excitement around the start of school is now followed by one of the most learning-intensive phases of the school year. We are happy that we can not only provide the pupils with important school utensils, but also offer them a safe anchorage for successful academic and social learning thanks to the Caritas learning cafés".
Learning for the future
In the learning cafés, trained learning supervisors and volunteers support the children in doing their homework and preparing for exams and tests. The free offer is aimed at socially disadvantaged families and thus contributes to equal opportunities in education. The success is not only noticeable, but also measurable: 99 percent of all pupils in Carinthia and Styria who attend the learning cafés have completed the last school year with a positive result.
105,000 euros for the Caritas Learning Cafés in 2023
Since 2020, Infineon Austria has been committed to equal opportunities for disadvantaged children with the Infineon Education Fund. With a total of 105,000 euros in 2023, around 120 children and young people will be supported in the Caritas Learning Cafés in Villach, Spittal/Drau, Graz and Mürzzuschlag. In addition, seven Infineon employees are involved as learning assistants "We are very grateful to Infineon for supporting the children in our learning cafés. Together we can help them to be supported and encouraged on their educational and professional path, regardless of their background and family possibilities," says Erwin Sandriesser, Director of Caritas Carinthia. "Education is the key to good integration and the prerequisite for a life in secure social circumstances," adds Caritas Director Nora Tödtling-Musenbichler from Styria: "Infineon's support helps us to give children a good start so that they can shape their own lives according to their abilities and talents."
