Villach, August 12, 2024 - Infineon's innovation factory in Villach has had a new Head of Production since August 1, 2024. Alina Absmeier, who holds a doctorate in chemistry, has many years of experience and expertise in the semiconductor industry.

The 45-year-old is taking over the management of production from Bernd Steiner, who will be moving into self-employment from September after 26 years at Infineon, including eight years as Head of Production. Alina Absmeier previously managed one of the largest teams in Infineon production in Villach for six years.

Thomas Reisinger, Chief Operations Officer Infineon Austria: "I am very pleased to have Alina Absmeier, an experienced Infineon expert, in this position. Her profound process experience and her previous management competence in the Villach production are a perfect basis for mastering the challenges of a dynamic semiconductor industry. I would like to express my sincere thanks to Bernd Steiner for his professional and personal commitment to Infineon, especially during the implementation and ramp-up of the new chip factory."

Alina Absmeier, Head of Production at Infineon Villach: "Our greatest strengths in complex semiconductor production are the high level of expertise and the synergies between production and research and development. As an innovation factory within the Infineon Group, the Villach site covers the entire technology spectrum - from silicon chips to the new semiconductor materials silicon carbide and gallium nitride. This enables us to create pioneering products for the global market. This strong manufacturing DNA characterizes our highly qualified team. My goal is to consolidate and further expand this innovative strength, cooperation within the international production network and efficiency."

Alina Absmeier has been working at Infineon since 2007. She came to Infineon in Villach after completing her doctorate in technical chemistry at the Vienna University of Technology. After holding positions in process technology and quality management, she became module manager of one of the largest teams in the innovation factory in 2018. As production manager, she is now responsible for the entire high-volume production of "energy-saving chips", which are used worldwide in trains, cars, data centers, LED lighting, medical devices and also in solar and wind energy systems.
