High-end with LED Pout > 35 W
High-end headlamps (Class C&D) LED drive modules to focus on design and performance:
- Microcontroller for welcome functions, fading, etc.,
- More than 10 LEDs within total >35 W for a high lumen output
- Daytime running light by a dedicated LED string
- DC-DC buck-boost topology for a better load dump or cranking performance
Middle-range with LED Pout 15-35 W
Mid-level headlamps (Class C&D) focus on efficiency. Mileage per liter is an important selling point for the OEMs. Therefore, the focus lies on more efficient LED driver modules with synchronous DC-DC converters:
- Same lumen output as for high-end two-wheelers
- Daytime running lights may be using the same LEDs as high or low beam lights
- DC-DC buck-boost topology for a better load dump or cranking performance.
Entry-level with LED Pout <15 W
Entry-level headlamps (Class B) - electronic designs are typically based on a minimized BOM (bill of materials):
- 3-5 LEDs within total < 15 W
- Asynchronous DC-DC converters
The micro learning is an introduction to LITIX™ power devices for three-wheeler headlamp applications. It explains the three-wheeler market concept and shows the different motorcycle applications. In addition, it explains the key features of the three main segments and how the motorcycle LED headlamps work.
The microlearning shows the LITIX™ power family devices for motorcycle applications. The LITIX™ power family provides easy-to-use devices available for headlamp and the training explains why they are the best-fit solution for each of the segments
The microlearning shows the key features of only using a single DC-DC controller in order to achieve the desired light function. It also shows how to lower costs and have fewer components, among other improvements, with the same current for both LED strings. In addition, it explains how the system manages the three light functions with just two switches.
This micro learning explains how TLD509xEP is the LITIX™ solution for headlamp applications for the entry level segment of the three-wheeler market. In addition, it explains the range of topologies that fulfills the load requirements and the best-fit features for headlamp applications.
The microlearning shows how H-bridge topology improves efficiency and its key benefits. In addition, it explains how TLD5190Qx achieves the best performance.
