Personnel Changes in Infineon's Communications Segments
Munich, May 23, 2001 - Effective May 1, Ulrich Hamann (46) assumed responsibility for Infineon Technologies Wireless Communications group. At the same time, Dr. Hermann Eul (42) took over the Security and Chip Card ICs group, and Günter Weinberger (44) was appointed as the new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Infineons Wireline Communications group. The recent changes in executive functions and segments come as part of Infineons strategy to encourage an important exchange of infor-mation and experience between operating segments and to promote communication and collaboration across all segments and functions.

The electrical engineering graduate headed the Security and Chip Card IC group from 1996, and can now contribute a wealth of experience in this field to the Wireless Communications group, where security applications are playing an increasingly important role in the age of m-commerce and the mobile Internet. Since 1999, Ulrich Hamann has also headed Infineons Corporate Center, where his responsibilities include corporate strategy, business development, intellectual property, relations management, processes, and corporate culture. His successor as head of the Security and Chip Card ICs group is Hermann Eul, a Doctor of Electrical Engineering, who began his career with Siemens Telecommunications Infrastructure division in 1991, where he had several managing positions in the research and development area. From 1996 he headed various business units in the consumer and telecommunications segments within Siemens Semiconductors. From 1999, he headed the Wireless Communications groups Baseband ICs division. Günter Weinberger embarked on his career with Siemens Semiconductor Group in 1983. Having served as Senior Vice President of Infineons Wireless Communications group since 1999, he now takes over as CTO of Infineons Wireline Communications group, where his responsibilities include developing technologies and product definitions for the growth markets Internet infrastructure and broadband communications.
