Munich, Germany – 23. December 2024 – Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability™ World Index and in the Dow Jones Sustainability™ Europe Index, as announced by S&P Global. For the 15 th consecutive time the listing honors Infineon's track record in corporate sustainability. The benchmark index represents the top 10% of the largest 2,500 companies in the S&P Global Broad Market Index based on long-term economic, environmental and social criteria.
"We are proud to be recognized for our sustainability efforts once again," said Elke Reichert, Member of the Management Board and Chief Digital and Sustainability Officer at Infineon. "Infineon's listing for the 15th consecutive time shows our long-standing commitment to sustainability. As we drive decarbonization and digitalization forward, both as a company and through our products, we believe that responsible business practices are essential to the long-term success of Infineon and create value for our stakeholders."
Semiconductors enable a more efficient use of resources and help exploit the full potential of digital technologies. Infineon products help save 45 times the emissions arising from their manufacturing. The company aims to improve this ratio with increasingly energy-efficient and intelligent semiconductor solutions. For instance, state-of-the-art power systems enable significantly higher levels of energy efficiency for example in renewable energy production, data centers and electric cars.
At the same time Infineon is striving to further reduce its own CO 2 footprint. Aiming for carbon neutrality by 2030, Infineon has already reduced scope 1 and 2 emissions by two thirds, and is thus well on track to hit the target of 70 percent reduction compared with the base year of 2019 by 2025. Infineon aspires to be a pioneer in sustainability for the semiconductor industry; it already has the lowest normalized scope 1 and scope 2 emissions and the lowest water consumption in its peer group.
The company is now going one step further, setting a science-based CO 2 emissions reduction target in accordance with the Paris Climate Agreement. Infineon's target also includes the supply chain (scope 3) in its climate protection efforts. In 2024, the company achieved a further milestone with the decision to publish detailed data on the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) of individual products. This helps customers gain more transparency about their own carbon footprints.
The Dow Jones Sustainability Index is regarded as one of the most important benchmarks for sustainability and lists the world's leading companies in this respect from across industries. Its objective is to help investors make informed decisions on how to align their portfolios more clearly with sustainability aspects and to encourage companies to actively continue their efforts in this regard.
