Product Carbon Footprint

Embracing Sustainability Across the Semiconductor Value Chain

With a firm commitment to environmental responsibility, Infineon is creating a new level of transparency in the semiconductor industry. We understand that sustainability encompasses the entire value chain. With this holistic approach we're pioneering a new level of clarity for our customers and stakeholders.

As an early mover in the industry, Infineon provides its customers with a Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) for main product categories. We are committed to eventually providing PCF data for the entire product portfolio, starting with about half of our portfolio now. This initiative is not just about meeting expectations — it's about setting new standards. We offer our partners detailed PCF data so they can make informed decisions that contribute to achieving their sustainability targets and, ultimately, to a reduced carbon footprint.

The PCF is a major milestone in Infineon's significant contribution to a net-zero society. Discover the carbon footprint of our products by initiating your journey with our portfolio selection. Click the menu icon in the top right corner to choose your desired product family and start exploring.

Understanding the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF)

The Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) is a metric that describes the total greenhouse gas emissions associated with manufacturing a product. It is typically expressed in kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent (kg CO2e), allowing for a comparison of different products' climate impact.

Infineon will report the PCF "from cradle to gate", as it includes emissions related to our own manufacturing (scope 1 and 2 emissions), as well as emissions that originate in our upstream supply chain (scope 3 emissions) such as manufacturing partners, transportation, raw materials and supplies. Since we already today successfully change to 100% renewable electricity at the majority of our production sites, we have been able to significantly reduce energy related emissions in Scope 2.

The PCF calculation results provided herein are preliminary and should be treated as estimates. They are derived from a methodology that is based on internal data, publicly available data, general assumptions, and averages. Please note, that these results are subject to change without notification as new data becomes available.

By providing comprehensive Product Carbon Footprint data, we are driving the vision of a net-zero society and enable our customers to reduce carbon emissions even more effectively. With the commitment to include the entire product portfolio over the coming years Infineon takes a leading role in carbon transparency. This underlines our ambition to be a leader not only in terms of technology, but also sustainability.

Achieving transparency and accountability in CO2 emission reduction

By revealing our PCF metrics, we're extending the visibility of our decarbonization efforts and demonstrating transparency from our corporate actions down to the individual product level. We're not only shedding light on our emission reduction journey, we're also providing a foundation for our customers to build upon for their sustainability initiatives.

This level of transparency, coupled with a standardized reporting approach, is crucial to driving systematic change. We are dedicated to leading by example, fostering industry-wide progress towards reduced carbon emissions. Infineon invites you to join us on this journey to a greener future.
