Automotive electric pumps and fans 48 V
Automotive motor control solutions for 48 V pumps and fans
48 V battery systems offer significant current reduction and weight reduction for the wiring harness resulting in lower fuel consumption. While the selection of 48 V micro-hybrid components is currently limited, Infineon provides cost-effective and high-performance electrification solutions for applications in both entry-level and upper market segments.
Automotive motor control solutions for 48 V pumps and fans
With increasing electrification of vehicles and legal requirements about emission regulation, new technologies have emerged in the automotive industry. The availability of 48 V battery systems is one of the prominent trends in meeting the emerging demands on power due to electrification. Adoption of a 48 V system enables significant current reduction for the same power with accompanying weight reduction for the wiring harness, resulting in lower fuel consumption. As a new voltage domain for vehicles, today’s selection of 48 V micro-hybrid components is limited. But this does not change the fact that you need cost-effective, high performance, and well-aligned electrification solutions for your applications.
Whether entry-level or for upper market segments, Infineon offers a complete system of chipset solutions – from voltage regulators, transceivers and sensors to microcontrollers, smart power drivers and very low-resistance MOSFETs – for 48 V systems.

Integrated 3-phase BLDC motor gate driver ICs for up to 72 V systems
The new Infineon MOTIX™ TLE9140EQW gate driver IC for BLDC motors is the right product to design exactly these applications in 8 V to 72 V systems. The ICs also perfectly complements MOTIX™ TLE987x 32-bit motor control SoC (e.g., TLE9877 and TLE9879) products allowing a scalable inverter solution from 8 V to 72 V to maximize HW and SW reuse. Additionally, the innovative and small TS-DSO-32 package allows for space and weight reduction on the PCB which enables designing cost-competitive application solutions.
Integrated 3-phase gate driver ICs for 12 V, 24 V, and 48 V systems
The MOTIX™ TLE9180D-21QK gate driver ICs with two integrated current sense amplifiers (CSAs) and TLE9180D-31QK with three CSAs are advanced gate driver ICs dedicated to control six external N-channel MOSFETs for high-current 3-phase motor drives. A sophisticated high-voltage technology allows the ICs to support applications for single and mixed battery systems with battery voltages of 12 V, 24 V, and 48 V. A smooth operation from 0 percent to 100 percent duty cycle along with 2 A (typ.) high-power gate driver stage, configurable protection modes with a detailed diagnosis, and SPI interface provide the high level of performance and safety features required for 48 V applications. A high level of integration including functionally independent phase voltage feedback and opamps, a smart supply concept, and safety barrier to protect the MCU allow for system-level BOM savings. Bridge-, motor-, and supply-related pins can withstand voltages of up to 90 V. Motor-related pins can even withstand negative voltage transients down to -15 V without damage.
