Infineon offers best-fit solutions with straightforward configuration for the broadest range of consumer and industrial applications. Key sectors include SMPS for TVs and PCs within an environment where the need for reduced switching loss alongside more efficient space utilization is driven by a demand for smaller and more efficient power supplies. Similarly, increased power density is required to outfit the next generation of adapters and chargers capable of charging multiple consumer devices – smartphones, tablets, wearables, power tools, e-bikes, drones, etc. -simultaneously.
Infineon’s reputation for offering safe and reliable components with a highly integrated suite of protective features also makes us the supplier of choice for the industrial sector with applications including power supplies and critical infrastructure such as servers.
Infineon’s 5th generation fixed frequency flyback converter IC brings enhanced system efficiency and standby mode <100 mW allowing light-mid load systems to reduce switching loss and improve overall efficiency. Significant BOM savings have also been achieved through design simplification and reduction in components. 100 kHz and 125 kHz switching frequencies are available with advanced performance and protection features integrated.
Infineon offers two types of resonant mode controller ICs (hybrid half-bridge flyback converters and LLC controllers) benefiting from the high efficiency, low EMI, and high-power density made possible by a resonant mode power supply. Though both topologies benefit from these advantages, they are distinct and represent best-fit solutions for a range of applications such as SMPS, USB-PD chargers, TV, server, and industrial power supplies.
The ICE5QSBG is a 5th generation quasi-resonant flyback converter integrated circuit offering enhanced system robustness with the integration of innovative performance and safety features. The novel quasi-resonant switching method minimizes switching frequency spread and empowers SMPS designers to reduce components and overall system costs. Other benefits include significant protection coverage with a broad operating range of -40 °C – 129 °C, auto-restart recovery, and a cascode configuration for rapid start-ups
ICE2PCS0x/G represents the 2nd generation range of CCM PFC controllers and builds upon the success of the original iteration with a wider VCC operating range, improved internal oscillator, and enhanced over-voltage protection. The improved protection features translate to a reduction in external components and the standard 8-pin configuration simplifies design implementation.
The ICE3PCS01G is the 3rd and latest generation in the portfolio. Available in a 14-pin configuration, it offers the lowest internal reference trimmed at 2.5 V and 95% full load efficiency for all input voltage ranges, amongst other enhancements.
Infineon’s range of Synchronous Rectification ICs was designed to meet the growing need for increased power density from reduced footprints, alongside greater design flexibility. Conforming to the latest regulatory standards governing external power supplies, the full portfolio benefits from micropower start-up and ultra-low quiescent current, minimal components within a straightforward design, and advanced integrated safety features.
The XDP™ SMPS range facilitates BOM reduction through the high integration of digital control and minimization of required external components. The integrated start-up cell and advanced burst mode control eliminate the need for an auxiliary power supply and allow for ultralow standby power loss. Design flexibility and shorter development cycles are also assured through broad programming parameters and a simple to design system schematic.
Infineon offers flyback converters, as well as hybrid flyback, and LCC topologies ideally suited for charging Li-Ion batteries between 60 W and 300 W. An extensive power range encompassing most of the consumer market including small electronics, power tools, and home appliances. System designers benefit from universal inputs and configurable designs for ease of implementation, high efficiency and power density, and overall BOM reduction through intelligent design and high integration of safety and performance features.
