Automotive Gate Driver ICs subcategories
Automotive-qualified gate driver ICs for a broad range of applications
Infineon offers a wide range of automotive-qualified gate driver ICs covering the usage of MOSFET, IGBT, and SiC technologies in automotive applications ranging from 12 V up to 1200 V. Built-in protection and diagnosis features facilitate to meet ISO 26262 functional safety requirements.
- MOTIX™ gate driver ICs for BLDC motors cover the low-voltage domain of 12 V and 48 V applications with ISO 26262-compliant 3-phase bridge drivers. The products are ideal for a variety of automotive applications such as electric power steering, brake booster, and pumps and fans.
- EiceDRIVER™ isolated gate driver ICs for EV applications provide galvanic isolation for automotive applications above 5 kW such as the traction inverter, DC-DC converter and onboard charger and support IGBT and SiC technologies up to 1200 V.
- EiceDRIVER™ APD gate driver ICs are designed to replace relays and standard fuses and provide additional protection and diagnostic functions. They increase the reliability of the power net thanks to fast fault isolation in less than 100 µs, additional diagnostics, and improved protection functions, e.g., integrated wire protection.
Simplify design and optimize performance with best-in-class technology
Our MOTIX™ gate driver ICs for BLDC motors cover everything you need for driving BLDC motors in 12 V and 48 V automotive applications, including protection and diagnostic features to meet stringent ISO-26262 compliance. Compared to integrated solutions such as MOTIX™ SBC or MOTIX™ MCU (SoC), this low-integrated solution with discrete components gives you the flexibility of selecting the optimal device for each function.
Typical BLDC automotive motor applications include powertrain, chassis, safety, and ADAS systems such as electric power steering, brake booster, MHEV starter generator, active roll control, HVAC compressor, transfer case, and pumps and fans.

Qualified high-voltage MOSFET, IGBT, and SiC gate driver technology
The Infineon EiceDRIVER™ isolated gate driver family for EV applications includes automotive qualified IGBT and SiC MOSFET driver ICs, providing galvanic isolation, and bidirectional signal transmission with high ambient temperature capability. They are ideal for applications, such as traction inverters, DC-DC converters or onboard chargers, where efficiency, space savings and safety are priorities.
EiceDRIVER™ isolated gate driver ICs enable extremely short propagation delays keeping the designer’s flexibilities at the highest level while providing galvanic isolation using the robust Infineon coreless transformer (CT) technology. They support IGBT and SiC technologies up to 1200 V. Advanced monitoring and protection features facilitate the implementation of ISO 26262 functional safety requirements.
SiC power electronics such as Infineon CoolSiC™ MOSFETS - when used in EV applications such as the traction inverter, onboard charger and DC-DC converter - increase the driving range of (hybrid) electric vehicles and reduce energy losses during charging. EiceDRIVER™ EDI303xAS variants are optimized for SiC and the portfolio will be steadily extended.
Gate driver ICs for automotive power distribution
Infineon's automotive gate driver ICs for automotive power distribution can address various applications from today's distributed, through central domain oriented to centralized zonal E/E architectures. EiceDRIVER™ APD together with Infineon automotive MOSFETs combines the function of a relay and a fuse, but with much better performance in terms of response time, shutdown accuracy, power consumption, and diagnostic capabilities. Gate driver ICs plus MOSFETs are typically used once higher load currents need to be switched, or more design flexibility is requested.
Dependable electronics based on functional safety/ISO 26262
