EZ-USB™ HX2VL USB 2.0 Hub Controller
EZ-USB™ USB 2.0 low-power Hub Controllers
EZ-USB™ HX2VL is Infineon’s family of high-performance, very low-power USB 2.0 hub controllers available in 2-port and 4-port versions. It supports both Single-TT and Multi-TT options. EZ-USB™ HX2VL is available in 48-pin TQFP and 28-pin QFN package options.
EZ-USB™ HX2VL has integrated upstream and downstream transceivers, a USB serial interface engine (SIE), USB hub control and repeater logic, and transaction translator (TT) logic. Infineon has also integrated external components such as a voltage regulator and pull-up/pull-down resistors, reducing the overall BOM required to implement a USB hub system.
All device options are supported by Infineon’s world-class reference design kits, which include board schematics, BOM, Gerber files, OrCAD files, and thorough design documentation.

What are the differences between Infineon Type-C Hubs and Docks?
* EZ-USB™ HX3PD is the industry's first 7-port USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C Hub with USB Power Delivery 3.0 (PD 3.0), supporting five downstream USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports (three Type-C ports and two Type-A ports) and two downstream USB 2.0 ports. HX3PD is CYPRESS™ most integrated USB hub, integrating a dual-port PD 3.0 controller (which provides PD 3.0 on one US and one DS Type-C port), a 7-port hub, and a Dock Management controller reducing Bill of Material (BOM) cost and solution footprint, making it ideal for USB Type-C docks, monitors, and standalone hubs.
* EZ-PD™ CCG4 Monitor/Dock Solution enables connectivity between a USB Type-C host system on the upstream port and multiple display and data devices on the downstream port. This solution has a USB Type-C receptacle on the upstream port which supports data, power, and display. On the downstream port, this solution supports one USB 3.0 Type-C (display, power, and data) port, three USB 3.0 Type-A ports, two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, one HDMI, and a Gigabit Ethernet port.
* EZ-USB™ HX3C is CYPRESS™ USB 3.0 compliant Hub-controller with Type-C and USB Power Delivery 2.0 supporting three downstream USB 3.0 ports (one Type-C and two Type-A). As HX3C does not support the latest USB and Power Delivery standards (PD 3.0), it is not recommended for new designs. More @here

CYUSB2304-68LTXI: Powering ON/OFF sequence of VBUS_US and VBUS_DS
VBUS_US (pin 17) and VBUS_DS (pin 18) can be powered anytime even if both 3.3 V and 1.2 V power domains are not powered. There is no specific power-up sequencing required for VBUS_US.
Note: The pin voltage changes take effect in Apple Charging sequence only when the Hub reads the status of the pin. The Hub reads the status at bootup and after a power cycling/reset. See AN92554 Implementing Battery Charging Features Using HX3 for details on the Apple Charging sequence. More @here.

USB Host Hub Transceivers: Individual Power mode in 28-pin HX2VL part
The 28-pin package has one PWR# pin and four OVR#[n] pins. When used in Individual mode, the PWR# pin is reserved for Port 1 only. This implies that the PWR# pin will be toggled only if there is an overcurrent condition on Port 1, i.e. if OVR#[1] is toggled and will not be toggled for overcurrent conditions on Port 2, Port 3 and Port 4. So, polyfuses can be used instead of power switches with the OVR# pins to control each VBUS as in the CY4608 / CY4608M DVK schematic. More @here

EZ-USB™ HX2VL: Need pull-up resistors to connect TEST/I2C_SCL pin?
No, you do not need pull-up resistors to connect the TEST/I2C_SCL pin. TEST/I2C_SCL is a multipurpose pin. If this pin has a pull-up resistor, HX2VL enters TEST mode after RESET is de-asserted (from RESET=0 to RESET=1). HX2VL controls the TEST/I2C and SDA pins to ensure that the I2C protocol spec is followed.
Infineon recommends that you connect the TEST/I2C_SCL pin to the SCL of another IC on the schematic, without the pull-up resistor. HX2VL DVK designs that do not use pull-up resistors have been tested and verified.
