OPTIREG™ automotive LDO offer quality and best-in-class technology
As the automotive industry continues to grow, so does the demand for safety and quality when it comes to automotive technology. With a long-standing history as a market leader in automotive electronics, Infineon is constantly developing best-in-class products that provide solutions to a range of consumer applications.
Infineon's OPTIREG™ low dropout (LDO) linear voltage regulators combine quality and technology to provide simple power supply solutions. They are specially designed for automotive applications with loads, such as transceivers, microcontrollers, active antennas, and sensors. Our linear automotive voltage regulators (LDO) are made up of small components in a simple layout and are easy to use for straightforward customer design.
They offer a broad range of integrated safety and protection features such as overload protection, short-circuit protection, reverse polarity protection, and overtemperature protection. Infineon automotive LDOs are also low-noise and low-consumption due to their low quiescent current.
Portfolio of regular and high-power car voltage regulators
Low dropout (LDO) linear voltage regulators are simple ICs that can convert a wide range of direct input currents into a stabilized output current of a lower voltage. Linear regulators must always have an input voltage that is greater than the output voltage. For example, a 5 V automotive linear LDO could be used to convert a 12 V input current into a 5 V output current, but unlike switching regulators, these voltage levels cannot be reversed. Low dropout regulators can function with a dropout voltage of less a 2 V, which standard linear regulators cannot do.
Our high-performance linear automotive LDOs feature a wide input range and a temperature range of –40°C - +160°C. Linear voltage regulators (LDO) can be used for a broad range of automotive power supplies, such as EPS, transmission, body control modules, HVAC, dashboards, ADAS, telematics, and CAV.
Their robust design makes them particularly suited for use in harsh automotive environments. The OPTIREG™ portfolio implements several automotive-specific product features, including watchdog, early warning, and reset, all of which can help provide solutions to challenges faced by automotive designers.
Explore the different types of automotive linear voltage regulators
While all Infineon linear automotive regulators offer a selection of integrated base features, some products in the OPTIREG™ portfolio offer a number of additional features for application-specific design, namely high-performance and voltage tracking.
Highly accurate voltage tracking designed to supply off-board loads
High-precision voltage trackers are regulators designed to supply off-board loads such as sensors. They do not have their own internal voltage reference, but rather they track an externally provided voltage with highly accurate results. Voltage trackers feature several protection mechanisms to accommodate for short-to-battery conditions and broken cable faults.
