Jul 3, 2024 | Business & Financial Press

Klagenfurt, July 3, 2024 - What started in 2004 with 80 employees in Klagenfurt has now grown to around 460 employees from 31 different nations: Infineon Technologies IT-Services GmbH, headquartered in Klagenfurt. It is responsible for and operates all global key IT functions within the Infineon Group. This year, the Klagenfurt site, where around 300 of the 460 employees are based, is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Regional site with global responsibility

Infineon Technologies IT-Services GmbH has been operating from Klagenfurt for two decades as a global competence center for IT infrastructure, as well as the integration and security of IT applications in production, administration & management, and research & development. It supports 159 Infineon locations worldwide with around 60,000 employees in 39 countries. It ensures that the IT systems in the Infineon network run smoothly every day – twenty-four-seven, 365 days a year. Attention is also paid to sustainability in terms of green IT. For example, energy-efficient cooling processes are used for servers, used IT equipment is recycled and sensors are used for the predictive maintenance of IT components.

Hansjörg Sonnleitner, Head of Infineon IT-Services GmbH: "The expertise and tireless commitment of our colleagues to the highest quality and innovation in the field of IT has contributed significantly to Infineon's success. Innovative, secure and sustainable solutions are not only in demand for our chips, but also for our IT solutions and services."

One of the most important tasks is the operation of the global data centers for research & development and production. In addition, the IT experts manage many projects to continuously optimize IT services and work on AI-based solutions. High-performance information technologies are playing an increasingly important role, particularly in research and development, but also in supply chain management and sales & marketing, to contribute to Infineon's profitable growth and digitalization.

IT specialists of the future

IT specialists are the invisible heroes of the digital world who work in the background to ensure that everything from IT systems to data transmission functions smoothly and securely. Well-trained specialists and IT degrees are therefore in high demand. Employees from 17 nations work on site in Klagenfurt. Some have a degree from the University of Klagenfurt, universities of applied sciences or technical colleges in Carinthia. Since September 2023, Infineon Klagenfurt has also been training apprentices in the field of application development coding.
